Pharmacognosy Laboratories focus on the study and standardization of crude drugs obtained from natural sources such as plants, animals, and minerals. Students are trained to identify medicinal plants through macroscopic and microscopic evaluation, powder analysis, and adulteration detection. Practical training includes extraction, isolation, and phytochemical screening of bioactive constituents, as well as the evaluation of herbal formulations. The laboratories are equipped with simple, compound, binocular, dissecting, and projection microscopes, along with stage and eyepiece micrometres. Facilities also include Clevenger and Soxhlet apparatus for the extraction and isolation of plant-derived constituents.
